| I went to Illtud's on Saturday 15th December with my family and we were lucky to get a table as the place was full. But I was not surprised that it was full as the food, service and ambience was absolutly first class. Geog was the head Chef at The St David's Hotel in Cardiff Bay and his credentials are world class. Our main courses included monkfish - sea bass and lobster and they were all perfect and served with appropriate sauces and vegetables. We had the house white - a very good Sauvigon Blanc at just £14 which was excellent value for money. This is just a great restaurant but book in advance it is likely to be busy. | |

| The glorious 12th arrived and our 25th Wedding Anniversary - we chose to celebrate at the newly re-opened Illtud's 215 in Llantwit Major. Some 30 minutes drive from our home and well worth it. Easy and safe parking just across the street started us off well and as we were welcomed with a glass of Champagne we relaxed into the warm atmosphere. The menu was varied and we soon made our choices - asparagus with hollandaise and goats cheese tart - superb taste and ample portions. We moved on to the main course of Rib eye steak and home made chips and Sea bream and salad, the flavours and quality were superb. The home made Apple Strudel with creme anglaise melted in the mouth and has become a firm favourite on our many return visits since. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere warm and welcomingly - we really didn't want to drag ourselves away. Summing up our 25th Anniversary Dinner was one we will always remember and judging by the packed restaurant of happy diners we are not the only ones who will making Iltud's 216 top of their regular nights out. | |
